Pergolas built for Florida sun and summer storms

Shade when you want it, open sky when you don't. We design and install louvered aluminum and cedar pergolas across Lakeland and the surrounding area.

A pergola turns a hot slab into the room everyone ends up in. We size it to the space, orient it to the afternoon sun, and design it to work with what's already there: your roofline, pool, patio or deck.

Fig & Fern is an official partner of Luxury Pergolas. Their louvered aluminum systems open and close to let light in or keep rain out, with motorized options, and they won't rot or warp in Florida humidity. If you'd rather have the warmth of wood, we build in cedar.

  • Louvered aluminum pergolas, including motorized roofs
  • Cedar pergolas and shade structures
  • Freestanding or attached to the house
  • Lighting designed in from the start
  • Paired with pavers, decks or an outdoor kitchen

How it works

  1. Free in-home consultation

Dennis walks your yard with you, listens to how you want to use it, and takes measurements.

  2. Design and pre-construction

When you’re ready to move forward, we create your full 3D design, day and night, along with the architectural drawings. You see the entire project and get a clear written price before you sign a construction contract. Financing options can be included.

  3. Permits and build

Your architectural drawings go to your city or county for permitting. We pull the permits and schedule inspections, then our crew builds it.

  4. Walkthrough and warranty

We walk the finished project with you. Our workmanship is covered for one year, on top of manufacturer warranties.

Common questions

How much does a pergola cost?

Most of our pergolas land between $15,000 and $45,000 installed. Size, material, a motorized louvered roof, lighting, and the surface underneath drive where yours falls. You'll get an exact number after the free consultation.

Aluminum or wood: which is better here?

Louvered aluminum doesn't rot, warp or need staining, and the louvers adjust for sun and rain. Cedar has a warmer, natural look but needs periodic sealing to hold up to Florida weather. We'll show you both and help you decide.

Do I need a permit for a pergola?

Often, yes, especially when it's attached to the house or covers a large area. As a licensed contractor we pull the permits your city or county requires and schedule the inspections.

Can it connect to my house?

Yes. We build both freestanding and attached pergolas, and we'll walk through which works better for your roofline and drainage at the consultation.
